A Turkish Airlines Airbus A330 operating flight THY-727 took off from Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu at around 1:28 pm local time. Minutes after departure, the crew reported a possible fire in the right engine and declared a mid-air emergency.
Emergency services were placed on standby as the aircraft diverted to Kolkata. The plane landed safely at approximately 2:49 pm with 236 people on board, including passengers and crew. No injuries were reported.
The aircraft is currently grounded at Kolkata airport, and passengers remain stranded.
